  • The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang - by Jqoo

    Introduction:

You play as Spike McFang a vampire kid. When Spike is out on the training grounds his friend informs him that the village has been attacked and the king and queen have been captured. Spike just says, “I have to complete my training.” His friend runs off and the professor hands him a cell phone. The professor says that he can call him whenever there is trouble. Well Spike continues on and he meets this genie. This genie tells him all of his moves like the spinning cape and the projectile hat. Then he is off to the town. He quickly discovers that his mother had been captured. He rushes toward the castle. When he reaches the castle he realizes that it is locked. How can he get inside. After waiting about 5 minutes, the professor calls and says that an onion has taken the key (don’t ask why). When Spike kills the onion he retrieves the key and walks in. The Story continues...

    Graphics [7/10]:

The colors of the graphics look pretty good and the 8-way movement also runs smooth. When you upgrade your hat different effects show that you have changed your hat. The monsters don’t look very good though. The one problem with the graphics is that they are not very detailed. The onions look like radishes from Super Mario Bros. 2. The enemy’s projectile doesn’t run completely smooth when thrown by the enemy. Most of the graphics are repetitive. The graphics are good but not great.

    Music and Sound [7/10]:

The music is pretty good and the sounds are kind of poor. The whooshing of your cape sounds dumb and when you get dizzy there is a stupid noise. And it doesn’t sound like your hat is coming off when you throw your hat. The music is pretty good but it is repetitive and somewhat childish. You may want to crank down the sound on this game.

    Game Play [9/10]:

The different abilities he has can be cool on sneaking up on the stupid AI. The hat throw can work well because you can hit the enemy two times (if you are lucky). The capes when you spin too fast makes the cape go out 4X its original circle. Hitting the enemies is kind of dull because they just walk around most of the time. I would definitely say that the game play is decent.

    Challenge/Replay [6/10]:

This game is extremely easy at the beginning. Then it gets very hard and frustrating. The onions are easy to beat but the zombies go really fast and bump into you all the time when they are trying to do a fire attack. The first boss is stupid. When you get her down to about 4 hits left she “levels up” and gets full energy. Also, she has doubled her defense! It takes twice as many blows to kill her. By the time you get her down to half of her life you are dead. The Easter Island heads looked like monsters but they were just save game things. They are also in awkward areas so that means if you die you end way back at the beginning or the middle of the stage. Leveling up takes forever. The challenge is what makes this game poor.

    Conclusion/Overall [7.5/10]:

This game isn’t very good but it isn’t the pits either. Maybe if you are 3-9 years old you may have some interest but I think it is too hard for kids. I don’t suggest this game to anyone older than 15. Its cheesy jokes and stupid looking characters lower the score. You may want to try it out though.
